​With extensive expertise in climate change, forestry, environmental governance, and ESG systems in Africa, he has directed significant sustainability initiatives in collaboration with both public and private sector stakeholders. As a former technical advisor to the Senegalese Ministry of the Environment, he has also served as a consultant for the World Bank and chaired the African Union’s group of experts dedicated to combating the illegal exploitation of natural resources. As a founding member of Interpol’s Forest crime working group, he was instrumental in establishing a West African coalition that successfully listed rosewood on CITES Appendix II. His contributions have supported the advancement of community forest management practices in Senegal and the implementation of innovative nature-based solutions for the restoration of degraded agricultural landscapes in West Africa. In recognition of his outstanding service to environmental stewardship, he has been honoured as a Knight of the National Lion Order. He is also a retired Colonel from the Forest Service.
